Jason Bishop – Biography

Guitarist / Composer / Educator

Jason Bishop has been playing the guitar for the past 25 years. He has a strong rhythmic background as an African/ folk drummer and this has shaped his guitar playing style into what it is today.

He established himself as one of the leading soca/ Calypso guitarist while playing with the well known soca band “Invasion” for 7 years. Jason has shared the stage with many local artists such as,  Machel Montano, Fay-Ann Lyons, Iwer George, Naya George, Maximus Dan and many others.

He travelled to various countries in the world with music namely: Kenya, Malaysia, Britain, St Lucia, Antigua, Barbados, Jamaica, Grenada, the US, Canada, Venezuela and many more sharing his love for music through his guitar .

In 2007 Jason left the soca stage to pursue his calling as a Christian. He presently runs his own guitar school and is pursuing his diploma in music theory and music education at the Trinity College of Music. Jason truly enjoys teaching music and seeing students grow in the magic of music.

As a session musician Jason has played on numerous recordings for artists such as Fay-Ann Lyons, Maximus Dan, Iwer George, Naya George, Defosto, Denise Plummer, Isaac Blackman and the Love Circle, Gates Praise and Jaron Nurse to name a few.

He is currently one of the guitarist in the fusion band IJO and he also does solo performances at weddings and functions.
